Who Is Demetrios? The Story of the Bridal Brand
The Greek fashion icon Demetrios James Elias discovered his talent and passion for design while helping his parents in the family's wedding dress shop in Warren, Ohio. In 1980 he realised that his dream was to own his own brand, and he acquired Ilissa Bridals of New York. In a very short time he turned the company into the success we all know today as Demetrios – a world leader in bridal fashion.
The Demetrios collections – variety for every bride
The beauty of having multiple collections is that they provide a platform for creating designs to meet the wishes of every bride, whatever her style.
The Demetrios collections offer wedding dresses that stand out with contemporary detailing while preserving the traditional qualities of a classic look, all to the highest standard of quality. Each collection is made up of unique styles with different fabrics, textures and laces.
He does not enjoy the spotlight; he often stays behind the scenes, avoiding journalists' microphones and cameras. In one of his interviews he explained this with his characteristic sense of humour: "I have no time for these things, I work 24 hours, seven days a week for the Demetrios brides."
The only explanation for a man devoted to making every grown-up girl's dream come true. His inspiration is the Demetrios bride, the one who has dreamed of this day since she was a little girl. He never stops thinking about her as he creates his designs; every dress must be unique, like the personalities of the brides who walk down the aisle. The designs must complement not only the look but also carry the identity and character of the women who wear them.
And the most dazzling thing about a bride, according to Demetrios: "Her smile, of course, the one that lights up her face as she walks towards the altar."
